Plastic Beach (work in progress)
INSPIRATION
Humans are incredibly wasteful. Whether its tossing out a couple of cans of food that just went bad or throwing recyclable plastic into a black garbage bin, we often discard valuable resources that can be saved or reused.
PROJECT PROPOSAL
Plastic Beach is a project that takes these wasted resources and virtually "recycles" them by making them into new pieces of art. The final work will be a zine consisting of artwork created only using imagery and photography of resources that can be considered trash or recycling.
Examples of this are seen in the proposed cover of the zine above:
Background: Close up of a distorted plastic bottle
"Beach" ground: Trash on the shore of a beach
Subject: Man suffocating from plastic bag over his face
Stickers: Recycled clippings from old newspapers and magazines
Sun: Old rubber ball I found under my bed
Each page will follow this format and create imagery to accompany a discussion about human wastefulness.
