About the Contributor:
Jas Pal Badyal FRS was awarded BA/MA and PhD degrees from Cambridge University; where he subsequently held a King’s College Fellowship and the Oppenheimer Fellowship. He then joined the faculty at Durham University, UK. His research is focused on bioinspired surfaces, where learning from nature has led to the design of applications including antimicrobial coatings, water harvesting structures, water purification, dry adhesives, and consumer products such as waterproof smartphones.
