About the Contributor:
Maria J. Santos is a Professor in Earth System Science at the University of Zurich. She obtained her Ph.D. from University of California Davis, two postdoctorate degrees at University of California Berkeley and Stanford University, and was Assistant Professor at Utrecht University. Maria J. Santos’ main research has been to understand biodiversity and ecological processes, how they might be affected by global change drivers, and examine their role in the sustainability of social-ecological systems.
